I think I broke some parts of my defroster when I was scraping off one of my grandpa's stickers after I bought the car from him. I'm guessing it's not an easy fix if done properly, but I bet I could figure something out.

It's just exposed elements like every other non-embedded grid, easy to repair with some conductive paint/compound by taping off the damaged portions and essentially painting in new lines.

Something like that, though I can't speak for Frost Fighter's quality, that's the basic idea.

Bookmarking this post because I have two separate rear defroster lines that don't work. They got knicked when I had the windows tinted, apparently.
